About NZIFST
The New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology Inc. (NZIFST) is the country’s leading professional association representing people working in the food industry, or in related research and teaching, who apply science, technology and engineering to the processing, manufacture and distribution of foods.
The NZIFST provides members and non-members with outstanding opportunities for networking, professional development and peer recognition. The Institute has approx 1000 members from more than 400 companies, so like-minded professionals can enjoy regular branch meetings, a fortnightly email newsletter, an annual conference and exhibition, technical seminars and workshops, Special Interest Groups, free publications, career planning assistance, and a programme of national and international awards for excellence.
NZIFST members receive significant discounts to NZIFST events and to a range of other industry events. At every opportunity, our members are invited to share their knowledge, experience and ideas and discuss industry developments, issues and concerns.
The NZIFST and its members also work extensively across all levels of the education sector to promote the food industry as a career option.
Read about the history of the Institute, some of our founding members, and the many individuals who have contributed to its growth and direction over the years, past office-holders, annual conferences and recipients of major NZIFST awards and prizes.
Established in 1965, the NZIFST is a volunteer, not for profit, incorporated society.
