Central Branch have a Brew Union Brewery Tour on May 3rd at 3pm in Palmerston North. To find out more and register click here - numbers are strictly limited, so don't delay.

Call for submissions
FSANZ invites written submissions on the assessment of the following application via the FSANZ Consultation Hub.
General procedure
- A1314 - Permitting small dogs and cats in aircraft cabins: this application seeks to amend the
Code to permit companion animals (small dogs and cats) to accompany their owners aboard
airline cabins under controlled conditions. The application seeks to amend the clause on live
animals in areas in which food is handled (clause 24 of Standard 3.2.2). 11:59pm (Canberra
time) Wednesday 30 April 2025. - A1315 – Chitosan and (1,3)-beta-glucans from white button mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus) as
a food additive: this application seeks to permit the use of chitosan and beta-1,3-glucans from
white button mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus) as a food additive - preservative in food and
beverage products. 11:59pm (Canberra time) Tuesday 6 May 2025. - P1060 - Egg Food Safety & Primary Production Requirements: this proposal will consider
amending the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code to provide new and/or amended
food safety and primary production requirements for eggs and egg products. 11:59pm
(Canberra time) Monday 12 May 2025. - A1318 - Steviol glycosides produced by enzymatic conversion using enzymes produced by GM
Escherichia coli BL21: This application seeks permission for the use of new enzyme processing
aids derived from genetically modified E. coli BL21, to produce the steviol glycoside
rebaudioside M. 11:59pm (Canberra time) Tuesday 20 May 2025.
New applications and proposals
FSANZ has completed an administrative assessment and accepted the following application. An opportunity to comment will be available at a later date which will be publicly notified.
General procedure
- A1326 - Addition of phytosterols, phytostanols or their esters as a novel food to bread and bread products
- A1328 - Aminopeptidase from GM Trichoderma reesei as a processing aid
FSANZ has completed an administrative assessment and made a decision to prepare the following proposal.
Minor procedure
Gazette - Amendment No. 236
Amendment No. 236 to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code was published by FSANZ on 29 April 2025 (FSC 176). It included amendments resulting from the following applications:
- A1299 – Fructosyltransferase from Aspergillus oryzae as a processing aid
- A1301 – Triacylglycerol lipase from GM Komagataella phaffii as a processing aid
- A1303 – Food derived from herbicide-tolerant sugar beet line KWS20-1
