This award is to recognise significant past or current service or contribution to the NZIFST, developing the affairs of the Institute, its Branches or Divisions.
This award was established to honour and recognise the outstanding contribution given by Ron Hooker, FNZIFST to the NZIFST since its formation in 1965.
Ron attended the very early Food Technology conferences, served on the NZIFST Council for two different periods, was the foundation chairman of the Canterbury Branch of NZIFST (continuing in the role for over 40 years), and was the NZIFST Executive Secretary for a number of years.
The RON HOOKER Award has replaced the original Award for Exemplary Services that was initiated in 1993.
